# What is HabitYou and Life Goals?

HabitYou is a powerful tool that helps you live your Life Goals.

A Life Goal can be Lose Weight, Be more mindful, Plan a trip, Save money, Get better at work, Learn meditation, Get fit, Learn to paint, Eat healthy, Sleep better, Quit smoking, Be happy. It is limitless.

HabitYou is your personal system that helps you plan your life and win at it.

HabitYou consists of 3 primary pillars:-

  1. Planner is the centre of HabitYou. It helps you plan your life goals. Life goals are broken down into Habits and Tasks.
    • Habit Tracker provides a weekly view of your habits
    • Calendar provides the daily focus to Habits and one time tasks
      • Add notes, images, sub-tasks to every habit on every day.
      • Track progress with graphs, stats. Build streaks and earn medals.
  2. Journal is the documentation of your life – all your ideas, wins and learnings.
    • Add Notes, Images, To Do, Links, Story
    • Every Life Goal has its dedicated journal
  3. Play is curated collection of challenges and content that help you in meeting your life goals.
    • Breathing challenges, Gratitude Journaling, Affirmations and many more
    • Link a challenge to a Habit and make it fun

# Planner – Calendar and Habit Tracker

Calendar and Habit Tracker are the two main views of the Planner Tab. Calendar shows a day-wise view, while Habits shows a week-wise view.

Calendar

Calendar view is great for Focus on just Today. It also shows one time tasks along with habits.

Habits and Tasks are grouped in different sections of calendar. They move across different sections as they are marked or scheduled for a particular time.

  • Completed section: Habits and Tasks which have been already marked.
  • Hour sections (4 pm, 5 pm ): Habits and Tasks scheduled for that particular hour.
  • Today section: Habits and Tasks that are meant to be done today, but haven’t been assigned a time.
  • Someday section: Tasks which are meant to be done someday; these tasks will show everyday on the calendar.
Changing Dates in Calendar
  • Date bar on top shows Today’s date.
  • Clicks on Arrows to go to next and previous day.
  • Click on Today’s date to select any custom date.

HabitTracker

  • Date bar on top shows dates in the week.
  • Today date is highlighted in bold.

Changing Weeks in Habit Tracker

  • Go to previous or next week by clicking on the arrows to the left and right of date bar.

# Create a New Habit or One Time Task

Click the large + round button in the bottom right corner of Calendar or Habit Tracker to open the Habit or Task Creation screen.

Create a Habit or One time task

Steps to create a new habit or Task:-

  • Add Habit or Tasks name
    • Click on Ideas Bulb for 150+ Habit Ideas
  • Select the Start Date and Time
  • Turn the reminder notification On or Off
  • Select the duration of the task or activity
  • Repeat Schedule: There are 3 types of Schedules. Schedule decides if it is a Habit or a one time task
    • Fixed Days: Habits that can be scheduled for Fixed days of every week. This keeps repeating.
    • Flexible Days: Habits that can be scheduled for a certain number of times in a week or month. This keeps repeating.
    • One Time: Tasks that needs to be done only once. Tasks are visible only in Calendar view and are not visible in Habit Tracker.
  • Select a Life Goal or Category under which the Habit or Task will be created. Custom Life goals name and color can be created.
  • Only for One time tasks, add a note, image, link or subtasks
  • Click Save to create the habit or task

# Mark Habit or Task Status as Completed

Habits Status can be marked from both Calendar and Habit Tracker, while One time tasks can be marked only from Calendar.

Mark from Calendar

Click on Circle before Habits or Box before the One Time Tasks to mark them complete or incomplete.

OR

Click on Habit or Task Name to open Habit details screen and mark from there.

Fixed Habits can be marked as completed by clicking on Circles below habit name for that specific date.

Flexible Habits (x times every Week or Month) are shown as Bands on the Habit Tracker. Select +/- to mark or unmark Flexible Habits.

Another way to mark the habits from Habit Tracker

Click on the down arrow to the left side of Habit Name to open HabEx (Habit Expanded), and Click on Status button

Click on the down arrow to the side of Habit Name and then click on Status button

There are 3 types of Marked Status for Fixed Habits:-

  1. Completed successfully. Streak will increase
  2. Missed voluntarily. Streak will break
  3. Skipped due to unavoidable reasons. Streak will stay the same

Reset status of Fixed Habit to Unmarked by clicking the Reset icon ↻

In the free version, one can mark status of a habit only for Today, Yesterday and Day before. Purchase the paid plan to mark habits for all past dates.

# Set Reminder Notification for a Habit

Set up to 1 reminder for every Habit. Multiple reminders will come in future.

Create new reminder while creating a new habit or task Habit. Keep the toggle on, so that a reminder notification will be sent at the mentioned time.

# Habit Plugins – Notes, ToDo, Daily Counter, Story, Links

Plugins are make your habits very powerful. Add a plugin like Notes, To-Do, Story, Counter and Links to your habit to create your Habit Feed – All your memories of a Habit.

Multiple plugins can be added to a Habit, but only the Primary one is visible below the Habit in Calendar and Habit Tracker

In Calendar, the primary Plugin shows on the magic strip below the habit or task.

In Habit Tracker, the Primary Plugin shows below Habit Name on home in HabEx (Habit Expanded) [Click on the down arrow to the left side of Habit Name]. Click “View All Plugins” to Pin, Add, Reorder plugins.

Notes and Images: Add a note or image everyday to capture all the memories.

To Do Plugins: Add subtasks or a to-do list. eg: grocery list, packing list, things to do today

Story: Create story with a combination of image, text, color background. eg: Write daily affirmations, Travel photo of the day

Daily Counter: Add a count for a habit on a daily basis to track it multiple times in a day. eg: glasses of water drank, miles run, minutes meditated etc.

Manage Plugins – Pin to Habit, Reorder and Edit

Click on Habit or Task name to open Habit Details screen.

From Habit Detail screen you can Add or Remove a Plugin, Reorder Plugins – by clicking on “Add Widget” button ( shown in Orange Circle.)

# Sort and Filter Habit

Sort Habits in Habit Tracker only (Calendar has everything sorted by time)

  • Clicking on Sort icon on the Top Left corner
  • Sort by day to night, night to day, life goals, or custom order
  • For Custom order of your choice, click the Reorder button to open custom sorting screen. Long press and drag to reorder the habits.

Filter Habits and Tasks in Calendar

  • Show Everything or just One time Tasks
  • Filter by Life Goal to see all the associated Habits and Task

# Edit or Delete a Habit

Know how to Delete a Habit or Snooze (Pause) it.

Edit Habit – Name, Life Goals, Reminder Time, Duration or Days of a Habit.

An existing Fixed Habit can’t be changed into a Flexible habit and vice-versa. Similarly an existing one time task can’t be changed into a Habit and vice-versa.

First, click on the name of a Habit or Task from Calendar or Habit Tracker screen. Then, click on Edit Icon in Habit Details screen that comes next to open the Habit Edit screen.

Another way to edit a habit from Habit Tracker is by clicking on Edit Icon in Habex [open HabEx, by clicking on the down arrow to the left side of Habit Name]

Delete a Habit

Delete habit from Edit Habit Screen. All the progress, notes, todo, medals etc. will also get deleted and can’t be recovered.

If you want to pause instead then Snooze the habit. Snoozed habit will get hidden from home and the streak will be preserved till the date you Activate the habit again.

Snooze a Habit

Snooze the habit to pause it when you want a break. Snoozed habit will get hidden from home and the streak will be preserved till the date you Activate the habit again.

All Snoozed habits move to snoozed habit section. Access it from bottom of the Calendar or Habit Tracker screen.

# Habit Progress Report

View Habit progress by clicking on Numbers to the right of Habit Name in the Calendar or Habit Tracker. This number is your Current Streak – chain of continuous days you completed a habit

Habit Feed Journal

Shows all the notes, images and milestones of the habit. It is like a mini journal of the habit. [Reach here by clicking on Numbers to the right of Habit Name in the Calendar or Habit Tracker]

# Habit Rewards – Medals

Earn Habit Medals on reaching a Streak of 3, 7, 30 and 100. Streak is a chain of continuous days you completed a habit. [Reach here by clicking on Numbers to the right of Habit Name in the Calendar or Habit Tracker]

# Journal

Journal is like your second brain. It is your journey across life goals.

Create a new diary for a topic or life goal. Notes, Image , Story, To-Do, Links can be added directly to a life goal independent of habits.

Journal is also a collection of all the Habit Feed in one place – Notes, ToDo, Story, Medals etc.

# Backup and Restore your data

HabitYou is a private app and all your data resides on your phone.

Backup to Google Drive to keep your data safe and Restore it on another phone or on fresh install.

Data doesn’t get auto-backed up. So, regularly backup your data.
